As one of the rabbis of the world's first progressive online synagogue, I think your blog speaks to the changing needs of the Jewish community. In the last year, www.OurJewishCommunity.org has interacted with thousands of Jews from around the world. Many of these people would otherwise not have a connection to the Jewish community.
Community is definitely formed online, and there are fabulous opportunities for Jewish community to form online. During our video-streamed High Holiday services this year, many commented about how nice it was to be part of a larger community and to feel connected to others. People from over 100 countries were able to interact with each other through Facebook, Twitter, and other chat features. Our online memorial service featured photos submitted by our congregants from around the world.
We are thrilled to offer a variety of resources throughout the year - videostreamed Shabbat services, blogs, audio podcasts, Youtube clips, educational materials, and so much more.
We provide a contemporary Jewish experience and see the power of redefining community.
