People Care About People – Telling Your Story

In these difficult economic times, it’s even harder to grab someone’s attention long enough to tell your story, make your case, and convince them to contribute to your work. We all know that telling your story effectively is critical to success in recruiting new families or members, getting new volunteers, and securing donations. As Michael Hoffman from See3 tells us in the video people, people care about PEOPLE. Thus, using case studies of individuals or families, and how your work has impacted them is a really effective way to help your target audience feel like their donation, however big or small, may be able to make a difference.

While Michael is specifically talking about online video, the point is true for any communications. Photos of people, quotes from people you’ve already touched, from donors and volunteers who have chosen to give their time and money are all effective ways to tell your story online, whether on your web site, blog, through email, or online video.
