Sometimes It’s The Little Things: TinyUrl
Here’s a tool that comes in handy – TinyUrl.
You know when you want to share really long links in your emails? You know how difficult it is sometimes to click on those long links to get where you want to go? Tired of hearing “hey, the link you sent me is broken!”? Well, TinyUrl is just the thing for you!
The next time you need to send out a web link (url) to someone and it’s kind of long, take a moment to go over to TinyUrl. TinyUrl will shrink your long url into a yummy snack-sized tidbit.
Simply hop on over to: http://tinyurl.com, copy and paste your long url into the window, click on “Make TinyURL” and feel the love! Then cut and paste the new url into the body of your email. No fuss, no muss, no complaints from recipients that they can’t open your link.
Here’s an example using the link to this particular post:

Know someone who might benefit from this posting? Here’s your big opportunity to take TinyUrl out for a test ride. Happy linking!

For some of your readers who want to ‘move up a step’ – I’d recommend using the short url tools that enable you to track the clicks!
There are many services out there – I’ve been testing out one called “Cligs”.
Click for here for Cligs
It’s super easy to use and free.

Joel — thanks for the suggestion! Also, I want to add that tinyurls are great for posting links in your Facebook status or on Twitter as well.
